Overview

Website Migration moves an existing site from one host to another without rebuilding it. Packages cover a small site of up to 1 GB, a site of up to 5 GB including email and DNS records, or a complex site of up to 20 GB with a database, staging test and planned low-downtime cut-over.

We begin with an inventory of what is being moved: files, databases, email accounts, DNS records and any scheduled tasks. We copy the site to the new host, adjust its configuration and, on the Advanced package, test it on staging before switching. DNS changes are timed to keep disruption to visitors and email as low as practical.

After the move we run post-move checks on pages, forms, links and, where included, email delivery. Revisions do not apply because the deliverable is a completed migration, and new hosting account fees are paid by you directly to your provider.

Who it’s for

  • Businesses leaving a slow, costly or unreliable hosting provider
  • Organisations consolidating sites onto a single hosting account
  • Site owners whose current hosting plan is ending or changing
  • Teams that need email and DNS moved along with the website

Problems it solves

  • A site moved to new hosting with everything still working
  • Email and DNS records transferred correctly with the website
  • Disruption kept low through a planned cut-over
  • Confidence that the new environment works before visitors are switched

What RF ETS delivers

  • Site files and database moved to the new host
  • DNS records updated to point to the new server
  • Email accounts migrated (Professional and Advanced)
  • Staging test before cut-over (Advanced)
  • Post-move checks and a summary of what was moved

How we work

  1. Inventory the current site

We list files, databases, email accounts, DNS records and settings, and confirm the size against your package.

  2. Copy and configure

We transfer the site to the new host and adjust configuration so it runs correctly in the new environment.

  3. Test and plan the switch

We check the copied site, using staging on the Advanced package, and agree a cut-over time with you.

  4. Cut over and check

We update DNS, move email where included and run post-move checks once the new host is serving the site.

What we need from you

  • Login details for the current hosting account
  • A new hosting account in your name
  • Access to your domain registrar or DNS provider
  • A list of email accounts to move, if email is included
Pricing

How pricing works

This work varies too much for fixed packages. We scope it with you, then send a written quote with price, timeline and deliverables before any work starts.

  1. Tell us what you need

Use the quote form or book a consultation and describe your goal, constraints and deadline.

  2. We scope it with you

We review your material and agree deliverables, assumptions and what is out of scope.

  3. Written quote

You receive a fixed price or milestone plan, timeline and revision terms before any work starts.

Not included

  • New hosting account fees
  • Third-party costs: domains, hosting, paid plugins and themes, software licences, API or AI-model usage fees, data-provider credits
  • Work outside the written scope agreed before work starts (handled as an add-on or a custom quote)
  • Ongoing support after the delivery and launch-support window unless a support package is bought

FAQ

Website Migration: common questions

How is a migration priced?

Migrations are fixed-price packages based on site size and what is included, such as email, DNS and a staging test. Choose from the packages above; extra sites can be added, and new hosting account fees are paid separately.

Are revisions included in a migration?

Revisions do not apply because the deliverable is a completed move. If the inventory shows the site is larger or more complex than your package covers, we confirm the right package or an add-on before the migration starts.

Will my site go offline during the move?

We plan the cut-over to keep downtime low, preparing the new host fully before DNS is updated. DNS changes take time to spread across the internet, so a short period where some visitors still reach the old host is normal; we schedule the switch for a quiet time you choose.

Can you move my email as well?

Email migration is included in the Professional and Advanced packages. We move the agreed mailboxes, update the related DNS records and check that messages send and arrive once the switch is complete.

What if something breaks after the migration?

Post-move checks cover pages, forms and key functions so issues are found early. Problems caused by the move are put right as part of the migration; unrelated issues found in the site itself can be handled through a maintenance plan or a separate quote.
