CAD & 3D Modeling
Accurate 3D part models, assemblies and dimensioned 2D drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, prepared from your sketches or measurements.
Custom quote after a short consultation · Timeline agreed in your quote
Overview
We turn hand sketches, legacy drawings, photos with measurements or written specifications into clean, parametric 3D models. The work covers individual mechanical parts, small and medium assemblies, and the 2D engineering drawings needed to communicate them to a workshop, supplier or colleague.
Models are built in SolidWorks, with AutoCAD used for 2D drafting and DWG work where that suits your workflow. We set up feature trees with clear design intent so dimensions can be changed later without the model breaking, check fits and interferences in assemblies, and dimension drawings with the views, sections and notes a fabricator needs.
You receive native files and neutral STEP exports, with PDF drawings and STL files for 3D printing on the higher tiers. Drawings are prepared for design communication and manufacturing quotes; we do not provide certified or stamped engineering drawings, and manufacturing itself is not included.
Who it’s for
- Product designers who need concept sketches converted into editable 3D models
- Small manufacturers and workshops needing dimensioned drawings for quoting or fabrication
- Businesses with paper drawings or old DWG files that need rebuilding as 3D models
- Start-ups preparing parts for 3D printing or supplier enquiries
Problems it solves
- Have an idea or sketch turned into a model that suppliers can quote from
- Confirm that parts fit together before anything is made
- Replace outdated paper drawings with editable digital files
- Get a consistent, dimensioned drawing set for a small product or fixture
What RF ETS delivers
- Parametric 3D part models in native format
- Assembly model with interference check on the Professional and Advanced tiers
- Dimensioned 2D drawings exported to PDF
- STEP files for sharing with suppliers and other CAD systems
- STL files for 3D printing on the Advanced tier
How we work
Review inputs and units
We review your sketches, drawings or measurements and confirm units, tolerances and any missing dimensions.
Model the parts
Each part is modelled with clear design intent so key dimensions can be edited later.
Assemble and check fit
Parts are assembled with mates and checked for interference and fit before drawings begin.
Draw and export
We produce dimensioned drawings, export the agreed file formats and send everything for your review.
What we need from you
- Sketches, drawings, photos with measurements or a written specification
- Critical dimensions, tolerances and material notes where known
- Your preferred native format or SolidWorks / AutoCAD version
- The intended use of the files, for example quoting, printing or fabrication
How pricing works
This work varies too much for fixed packages. We scope it with you, then send a written quote with price, timeline and deliverables before any work starts.
Tell us what you need
Use the quote form or book a consultation and describe your goal, constraints and deadline.
We scope it with you
We review your material and agree deliverables, assumptions and what is out of scope.
Written quote
You receive a fixed price or milestone plan, timeline and revision terms before any work starts.
Not included
- Engineering certification or stamped drawings
- Manufacturing
- Third-party costs: domains, hosting, paid plugins and themes, software licences, API or AI-model usage fees, data-provider credits
- Work outside the written scope agreed before work starts (handled as an add-on or a custom quote)
- Ongoing support after the delivery and launch-support window unless a support package is bought

CAD & 3D Modeling: common questions
How does CAD modelling pricing work?
The tiers above describe typical part counts and drawing sets with 'from' prices. Part complexity and the quality of your input material affect effort, so the exact price is confirmed in your quote after we have reviewed your sketches or drawings.
Are the drawings certified or stamped by an engineer?
No. Our drawings are for design communication, prototyping and manufacturing quotes. We do not provide engineering certification or stamped drawings, and manufacturing is not included. If your project needs sign-off, your chosen certifying engineer can review our files.
Can you model a part from a physical sample?
Yes, if you supply clear photos and measurements taken with callipers or similar. We do not take physical measurements ourselves, so accuracy depends on the dimensions provided, and we flag any dimension we have had to assume.
What if the design changes during the project?
Revision rounds included in your tier cover changes to the agreed parts and drawings. New parts or a significant redesign are handled as an add-on or an updated quote, agreed with you before we continue.
Can you also prepare CNC toolpaths for these parts?
Yes, through our separate CNC/CAM Programming service. Once the models are approved we can produce simulation-checked toolpaths and set-up sheets for the same parts, using the native files we created.
