Excel Automation (VBA & Power Query)
VBA macros and Power Query automations that turn repetitive Excel tasks into buttons your team can run themselves.
Custom quote after a short consultation · Timeline agreed in your quote
Overview
Many teams lose hours every week to the same Excel routine: copying data from exports, reformatting columns, combining sheets and rebuilding the same summary. Excel automation replaces those steps with macros and queries that run in the workbook your team already uses.
RF ETS uses Power Query for importing, combining and reshaping data, and Excel VBA for actions Power Query cannot handle, such as user forms, buttons, generating files or applying custom logic. We watch how the task is done today, agree what should happen at each step and build the automation so it can be run by someone who is not a spreadsheet specialist.
The Advanced package delivers a workbook tool with up to six automations, user forms and a summary dashboard sheet. Every package includes commented code and a how-to guide. Google Sheets and Apps Script work is quoted separately.
Who it’s for
- Administrators who repeat the same spreadsheet steps every day or week
- Finance and operations teams that combine several exports into one report
- Small businesses that run key processes in Excel and want fewer manual errors
- Managers who need a simple data-entry form instead of editing raw sheets
Problems it solves
- Cut repetitive copying, pasting and reformatting
- Reduce manual errors in routine reports
- Give non-specialists a simple button or form to run the process
- Keep everything in Excel rather than moving to a new system
What RF ETS delivers
- Automated Excel workbook (.xlsm or .xlsx as appropriate)
- VBA macros and/or Power Query queries, commented
- User form and buttons (Professional and Advanced)
- Summary dashboard sheet (Advanced)
- How-to guide for running and updating the automations
How we work
Walk through the task
You show us the current routine and sample files, and we note each manual step.
Agree the automation design
We decide which steps suit Power Query and which need VBA, and confirm the package.
Build and test
We build the automations and test them on your real files, including awkward cases.
Guide and hand over
You receive the workbook, commented code and a how-to guide for everyday use.
What we need from you
- A copy of the workbook and sample input files
- A description or recording of the current manual steps
- Your Excel version and whether macros are allowed in your organisation
- Examples of the expected output
How pricing works
This work varies too much for fixed packages. We scope it with you, then send a written quote with price, timeline and deliverables before any work starts.
Tell us what you need
Use the quote form or book a consultation and describe your goal, constraints and deadline.
We scope it with you
We review your material and agree deliverables, assumptions and what is out of scope.
Written quote
You receive a fixed price or milestone plan, timeline and revision terms before any work starts.
Not included
- Google Sheets / Apps Script (custom quote)
- Third-party costs: domains, hosting, paid plugins and themes, software licences, API or AI-model usage fees, data-provider credits
- Work outside the written scope agreed before work starts (handled as an add-on or a custom quote)
- Ongoing support after the delivery and launch-support window unless a support package is bought

Excel Automation (VBA & Power Query): common questions
How does pricing work for Excel automation?
This service uses fixed packages you can book directly, based on the number of automations and whether forms or a dashboard sheet are needed. Extra automations can be added as add-ons. See the packages above.
Do you work in Google Sheets?
Not within these packages. Google Sheets and Apps Script projects are excluded here and handled as a custom quote, because the tools and limits are different from Excel.
Should we use VBA or Power Query?
Power Query is usually better for importing, cleaning and combining data, while VBA handles forms, buttons and custom actions. We recommend the mix that suits your task and explain the reasoning before building.
What if our files or process change later?
Revisions within the agreed scope are included as listed for your package. The commented code and how-to guide make small changes easier, and new automations can be added as add-ons or quoted.
Will the macros work if our IT team blocks them?
VBA needs macros to be enabled. If your organisation restricts them, tell us early; we can lean on Power Query, which does not rely on macros, where the task allows.
